Questions and approvals

Understand what Bot can handle and which decisions come back to you.

Questions versus approvals

A question asks for information or a choice, such as which test environment to use. An approval asks whether an action may proceed, such as running a command or accessing a resource. Either can arise during a long task.

How Bot handles them

With Codex, Bot uses your existing goals and preferences to answer task questions. It can also confirm actions you have authorized when it can verify the details.

For example, if you asked it to keep tests away from your personal inbox, it can choose a test inbox and explain why.

When you need to decide

Missing materials, conflicting instructions or new permissions come back to you. Check the target and scope before allowing, declining or adding instructions.

Set a useful boundary

For example: “You may edit the sign-in module and run local tests. Ask before deploying.”

That instruction covers the stated work; it does not grant permission for unrelated tasks or accounts.
